Martinborough by Night

The Game:

This game is primarily targeted at the older characters in play  (ie: 150 xp plus) with the main focus on social interaction and higher level politics. The game is open to other characters but you must be aware that many of the main characters in this game have been in play for several years and are appropriately powerful.

We have no intention of allowing hack and slash style playing to dominate or intrude heavily into this game and thus it will be actively discouraged. Without using deux ex machina to demonstrate the following point , players for this game must remember that, as the wild west was fond of reminding people, 'there is always someone faster on the draw than you.' This is a game based around 'elder level' interaction and lets face it, elders don't go 'bash' on each other. Elders talk and socialise amongst each other and don't dump on where they live.

We expect most games to be purely social events,  the scene setting representing one of a few locations.

Power Levels:

As mentioned above most of the characters involved will have 150 xp plus. This allows us to more easily balance out other games without people being forced to retire their characters. And as stated above we are happy to consider newer or new characters as long as you are aware of the xp gap between your new character and the current ones involved.

A description of Martinborough:

Martinborough, one of the world's great emerging wine regions, is rapidly becoming the country's most exciting food and wine destination. About three hours drive south of Hawke’s Bay, this area is a favourite with the capital’s city dwellers in Wellington, who are about one and a half hour’s drive away over the Rimutaka Ranges. The town has been a favourite weekend destination for those who feel a need to escape the city. Now that its fame is spreading, more and more New Zealanders and overseas visitors are enjoying the region's rural charm and hospitality. The Martinborough vineyards have achieved considerable recognition for the special qualities of the wines. Award-winning varieties include Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.

There is an extremely low crime rate around the area with much of this attributed to effectiveness of the towns constabulary and the fact that the vast majority of permanent residents here can trace their families arrival to the area back to the 1800's. This town is one of the beacons of civilised light in this world of darkness and the local council works very hard to keep it this way.
