Sirs, I have compiled the following in formation to assist
you in understanding the nature of the main body of kindred we observe.
16/06/2002 - Samuel Pearsden Chapter House Wellington
In Masquerade there are several clans, or bloodlines, of vampires. Clan is determined by an individual kindred's Sire and is passed down through the Embrace. Listed below are the seven basic Camarilla Clans, other clans and bloodlines do exist, but they are less common. (And to all you whiners, yes we do realise that the Gangrel have left the Camarilla, but as most stay in the Camarilla still we have included them here.)
"Our society is one of many peoples.
We are all diversified in our approaches to the life we lead, but we are all
united in our desire for survival. The laws we live by are governed by the Blood
we sprung from, but are consolidated under the rule of the Inner Circle - the
leaders supreme of our clans. The world is our grazing land, we are the one true
race - It's just how we live out this life that makes us different."

THE BRUJAH ![]()
"The Brujah live by the rule :No one can pick on my
little brother but me. This is all well and good if there is someone from
outside the family giving you grief, but usually only happens once. Coaches
always say that the body remembers what the mind forgets, and the Brujah are
really good at teaching the body. School of Hard Knocks, you know. What the
Brujah offer one another is a mob of well-armed thugs with a bad attitude.
They'll pound one another as soon as look at them, but they close ranks tightly
against outsiders. This is an invaluable asset, especially if you are dealing
with members of other clans. Knowing how the Brujah treat their own, it's
probably also a smart move."
"They are bound together primarily by their rebellious nature, a nature
that is only increased by the most marked behavioral symptom of vampirism. They
are quick to anger, and particularly well-equipped to give expression to it.
Violence is most often the preferred means of discourse. Individually or as a
group, they are iconoclastic. It is little surprise that the vast majority of
Anarchs come from the clan."

THE GANGREL ![]()
"Of all the clans the Gangrel are the most independent,
solitary, and self-reliant. They insist on defining themselves as a collection
of individuals and never as a cohesive unit. If the Brujah are pack minded, the
Gangrel are solitary nomads. Like many other nomadic societies, they have a long
established oral tradition. When two or more Gangrel meet, it will be an evening
of long stories, relating personal observations and hearsay. If one Gangrel
speaks well of you, it will soon pass to the others through this method."
"Gangrel value their autonomy above all else. It is unspoken tradition to
allow them free entry into and exit from all Camarilla cities, and with good
reason. Well-disposed, they are a source of information from other cities and
the outlands where most Kindred fear to venture. Angered, they are individually
some of the most combat capable kindred to be found. If many are angered, even
Brujah give them wide berth. Secondarily, they are intensely concerned with
nature and justice, the former most often in collusion with the latter. Their
sense of justice is powerful, through often biblical in its harshness."

THE MALKAVIANS ![]()
"Yeah, okay, it's true that Malkavians are all slightly bent, but how sure are you that you're totally sane, buster? If you're honest and not a complete idiot, that gave you a pause. If not, well time has a way of taking care of liars and fools. They usually end up being princes.... But I'm not to the point yet. I'm going to tell you why sometimes its good to be crazy, and why hanging out with cuckoos can get you down. See, if people think you're bonkers, you can get away with tons. Like this little pamphlet; who d'you think reads this stuff? Not the elders, but the kiddies might get something good and useful out of it. Or they might get a chuckle, or something to wrap a fish in. No one takes a kook seriously, so a serious kook can get a lot done so long as he acts nutty from time to time. It's a form of invisibility: out of mind, out of sight."
